God-Sent!

Puzzle Piece 1:

All along, P’s best friend is Nigel from the kindy. After much probing, Nigel is actually a year older and they are best friends because they are in the same afternoon session. When you ask P, who is your best friend, and he will say Nigel.

Puzzle Piece 2:

Ever since I moved to my new place, and have not decided to change to a nearer kindy, we travel 40km (20km/way) each day from the home to school. I think last year, I began to notice a white car that became very obvious. Ie…i see this white car at the school, and in my home community. Then I decided to play detective. and TRUE enough, this white car goes to the same kindy. At that point of time, I was thinking…”WAH, this kid/kids goes all the way to this kindy…this kindy must be something!!!”

And so one fine day last year, when both cars arrived at the school at the same time, I decided to introduce myself and we exchange communication and…… The kid that goes to school and from my same condo is NIGEL.

So we became a “Hi and Bye” friends. Nothing more. But at least I knew, if I needed help or an emergency, I can contact Nigel’s parents. and all these while, I know the parents as NIGEL’s parents.

Puzzle Piece #3

One fine day, this year and just recently, Nigel’s mom added me on Facebook. When I was deciding to accept or not, I was so blur as I do not normally add strangers. I had to go through and profile and confirm..”Oh..Nigel’s mummy and her name is xxxxxxx xxx”.

Puzzle Piece 4

This week was school reopening week (Week 19). On 19th itself, I received 3 miss-calls at 8am. Unknown number. No message left. You know, I dont pick up unknown numbers and at 8am, I am rushing to get out of the house. But my feelings told me to return call. So I did and it was Nigel’s mummy. She said from tomorrow onwards (next day), she wants to fetch P to school everyday!!!! I am happy.

I told P the night before that from Wednesday, you will follow who and who to school…he brushed me off saying “COME ON, are you kidding ME!!!” He was unsure if its true!!

That morning came, I tell you, P and Nigel were happy campers. I could see the morning mood changed for both the boys. and today is the 2nd trip… I wonder how long would it last? I dont want to give benefit of doubt. Now, I am asking myself, should I pay her for transport? or should I buy a gift? a gift for the parents and Nigel? I didnt ask for it but God sent to lift some of my responsibilities?

This arrangement is really good as

- P will not be late to school

- P will have to wake up early..(aka more discipline)

- He has friends to chat and grow….

- I get to work early

anyway Thank you Lord.

This coincidence is truly god-sent! Nigel’s mummy is so kind to offer to send P. If I were her, I would too. After all, it’s just “soon lou”. Perhaps you can offer to pay her and if she declines, just buy her or her son something once in a while :)

  2. Cynthia says:

Glad that The Mighty Ones send his blessing.. hope the 2 boys enjoy each other accompany! You may want to consider asking which school is Nigel going? isk isk…

  3. stacy says:

All the ‘coincidences’ and detective work! Works out good for all. Definitely offer to pay for transport/toll. This will probably be declined, then you just buy something once in a while la.

  4. Olive says:

This is such a BLESSING! I would offer to pay a token as transport cost and if she denies, I would buy Nigel or the family gifts occasionally.

  5. mc says:

it really is an amazing string of events! definietly meant to be.

  6. Wow Rachel!
Truly and God sent blessings indeed!
It will be an interesting and warm experience for P to grow up with such a buddy, carpooling to school and all that. I know I have and I will always treasure all those memories.
I think the best is to pay them an amount of fee for transportation. Most probably, Nigel;s parents will not accept it but at least try. Otherwise, perhaps you can offer something in return if not a gift. But a gift will be very subjective. Perhaps, offer to take turns to send or pick them up from school on occasional basis (once a week or fortnight maybe).

  7. Health Freak says:

Yeah, amazing events that occurred over a period of time, like someone fixing a difficult jigsaw puzzle. Indeed God-sent! Lucky you, PTL!

  8. vickylow says:

That is so kind of Nigel’s mom to offer send P to school. Maybe you could just tell her you wanna pay her certain amount for her petrol. If she refuse than only think of what to buy for Nigel & his mom :)

  9. Ann says:

Oh wow….praise God indeed. He really knows our needs….P included. It’s so coincidental it can NOT be coincidental right. Praise God indeed.

  10. chinnee says:

Amazing to see how both boys are fated to be best friend. Hope you and Nigel’s mummy will be good friends too :)

  11. Chew Lee says:

indeed a very good news.. I suppose you should offer to pay for the transportation cost, petrol price is not cheap wo .. if she declines, some occasional gifts for the family and Nigel seem appropriate. That’s what I would do …

  12. Merryn says:

Talk about fate. It’s great Philip has a good friend and such coincidence you both stay in the same Condo! Yeah, maybe offer to share the cost of transportation. I hope this arrangement will last a long time :)

  13. Indeed God works in mysterious ways. You could return a favor sometimes too, or you could give her little gifts off and on. But consider it one more good friend you have :)

  14. Kristie says:

Wow what a small world indeed! Maybe just speak to Nigel’s mum and ask if u can chip in anyhow? ;-)

    Have a great weekend babe!

  15. zmm says:

All the puzzles and pieces fall perfectly into place.

Pay the parent back.. if she doesn’t accept.. get a gift of similar value..

  16. a-moms-diary says:

What a nice coincidence. I have the same opinion like the rest – offer to pay and if she declines, then buy gifts once in a while.

  17. familyfirst says:

Just hope that i can be as blessed as you ler … but will be happy if i can continue to get a good private van to ferry bryan to primary school.

  18. slavemom says:

That’s vy kind of Nigel’s mom. As for how to compensate her, I agree with the rest. If she doesn’t want monetary returns, maybe u can offer to fetch the boys home once in awhile, when u’re not in a rush.

  19. Caroline says:

Wow … really so lucky la!!!!! Good that P will have a friend to go to school with and agree with the rest too about offering to sent/fetch both of them from school if you have the time.
